From innovations in formulation and packaging design to hair care, skin care, and cosmetic products, this year’s 2023 Cosmoprof and Cosmopack Awards finalists and winners include a multitude of noteworthy products in the cosmetic and personal care finished goods spaces.

This year’s Cosmoprof North America exhibition’s 20th​ anniversary edition in Las Vegas saw a twenty percent increase in attendance over last year’s show with over 1,100 exhibiting beauty brands and included visitors and exhibitors from 108 countries across the three-day event. On the first evening of this year’s show, organizer USA Beauty, LLC including Informa Markets, Bologna Fiere, and the Professional Beauty Association in partnership with global beauty industry insight platform BEAUTYSTREAMS hosted the annual convention’s Cosmoprof and Cosmopack North America Awards.

About the 2023 Cosmoprof & Cosmopack Awards

For the Cosmoprof Awards, which formally recognizes outstanding finished goods, categories included Makeup & Nail Products, Green & Organic, Skin & Body Care Products, Home & Professional Devices & Tools, and Hair Products. For the Cosmopack Awards, which formally recognizes outstanding formulations and product designs, categories included Formulation, and Packaging: Design & Materials.

Following submission, entries were judged by a panel of beauty industry experts and professionals including retailers, brand executives, designers, R&D experts, and B2B & B2C Press, according to the Cosmoprof website.

This year’s judging panel consisted of: Otilia Beschea, Director of Innovation at Group Marcelle, Jeb Gleason-Allured, Content Director at Global Cosmetics Industry, Nyakio Grieco, Co-Founder of Thirteen Lune, Thomas Hammond, Director of Package Development and Engineering at Revlon, Yarden Horwitz, Co-Founder of Spate, Yarden Horwitz, Co-Founder of Spate, Larissa Jensen Vice President, Beauty Industry Advisor at The NPD Group, Nicole Musco, Director of Product Development at Jane Iredale, Andrea Nagel, VP of Content at CEW, Michael Nolte, SVP Creative Director at BEAUTYSTREAMS, Ron Robinson, Founder & CEO of BeautyStat, Noah Rosenblatt, President of Space NK North America, Mimi Udezue, Sr. Beauty Buyer at Target and Pei Wong, Director Of Product Development at Tula.

Award winners receive brand awareness support through a variety of prizes including dedicated website offering visibility on the Cosmoprof website for one year, an awards-themed installation at the Cosmoprof North America show during show dates, a finalist seal to be used for promotional campaigns, and the opportunity to showcase their products during the Cosmoprof Worldwide Show in Bologna in 2024.

Category nominees & 2023 Cosmoprof Award Winners

Entries for the 2023 Cosmoprof Awards were judged on criteria including innovation, marketability, marketing impact, promotion & cultivating relationships, social media impact, and innovative and outstanding omnichannel presence. Separately, the Green & Organic category was judged on the criteria of improved environmental footprint, sustainable packaging materials, recyclability, fair trade/ethical sourcing, and refillable solutions.

Here are the finalists and winners for this year’s 2023 Cosmoprof Awards:

Makeup & Nail Products

This category includes finished cosmetic products for the lips, eyes, face, nails, and body.

This year’s finalists included:

Dermalect’s Dermelect Luminous Nail Brightener + Perfector: a color corrector designed to strengthen and restore damaged nails.

Luckybox Korea’s Folaris Premium Gel Pedi Strips: semi-cured and finished under a UV light for a DIY manicure comparable to salon quality nails and available in a variety of colors and designs.

Mani Maker’s Mani Maker Nail Polish Grip: an accessible beauty option that is ergonomically designed to support users with dexterity issues that can fit over the top of any nail polish cap to make opening bottles and painting nails easier.

Monoglot Holdings Inc.’s Elroel Blanc Lanc Rouge X2: a collection of two-tone lipstick combinations that change colors based on the wearer’s unique pH levels which result in an individualized color that best fits the user’s lips.

This year’s 2023 Cosmoprof Award winner for Makeup & Nail products is Mani Maker’s Mani Maker Nail Polish Grip.

Green & Organic

This category includes all products across different beauty and personal care spaces that are designated as green or organic.

This year’s finalists included:

AG Cosmetics SRL World of Beauty’s Slim Shape Body Pants: reusable (up to twenty times) cotton leggings imbued with natural lipolytic concentrate and designed to reduce the appearance of cellulite.

EARTH & HALO’s Apple Of My Eye Eye & Lip Contour: formulated with organic extracts and produced in sustainable packaging including a glass container and recyclable craft paper, this anti-wrinkle serum fights signs of aging like fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes and mouth.

Lucas Products’ Lucas-Cide Thyme: effective and highly biodegradable, this plant-based disinfectant is a more sustainable solution for disinfecting professional beauty spaces like spas and salons.

ReSaltZ’s Salt Massage Cleansing Bar: designed in a gua sha shape for facial massage to alleviate puffiness and stress, this bar is formulated with vegan minerals and Korean sea salt and utilizes packaging that is designed to minimize carbon footprint.

This year’s 2023 Cosmoprof Award winner for Green & Organic products is AG Cosmetics SRL World of Beauty’s Slim Shape Body Pants.

Skin & Body Care Products

This category includes products for the face, body, sun care, personal care, and toiletries.

This year’s finalists included:

Egfology Co. Ltd.’s EGF Program MTS Ampoule: according to the brand, this product is the only certified functional active ingredient epidermal growth factor in Korea and is formulated to boost skin cell regeneration to improve the overall tone, texture, and appearance of the skin.

Franz Skincare USA Inc.’s Franz Naked Sunshield Peptide Patch: these ultra-thin, flexible, clear patches are designed to be worn all day to provide UVA and BA ray protection, and are formulated with peptides and other ingredients to boost skin elasticity and improve the appearance of the wearer’s complexion.

I.D. Swiss Botanicals’ Skin Stress Balancer: this water-soluble powder serum is designed to be added to the user’s existing skin care product routine to enhance skin protection and strengthening benefits.

Regen4D’s CellularMask Deep Hydrating Mask: a biodegradable face and neck mask formulated with gamma-aminobutyric and hyaluronic acids and designed to reduce signs of aging like fine lines and wrinkles by hydrating the skin and relaxing facial muscles.

This year’s 2023 Cosmoprof Award winner for Skin & Body Care products is I.D. Swiss Botanicals’ Skin Stress Balancer.

Home & Professional Devices & Tools

This category includes products for the face, body, hair, and nails.

This year’s finalists included:

Cubist Co., Ltd.’s Face Factory Rink Shot: this device is designed to utilize a combination of LED light and radio frequencies to improve skin elasticity and density with consistent use over time.

Hangzhou Ulike Technology Co., Ltd.’s 3-in-1 Sapphire Ice Cooling and Skincare Hair Removal Devices: designed as an intense pulsed light, or IPL device, this tool works to simultaneously brighten skin while removing unwanted hair in the treated areas at the root.

Shenzhen Qianyu Technology Co., Ltd.; JOVS’ 4D Focus Mask: by utilizing an ultra-narrow optical chip technology called FPT, this skin treatment mask combines four types of composite light waves to improve the skin’s appearance by reducing skin dullness and hyperpigmentation and stimulating collagen regeneration.

Spa Science’s Nera DLX Power Shower Brush: this tool offers a four-in-one approach to body skin care through its different treatment options which include cleansing, loofah, massage, and pumice stone head attachments.

This year’s 2023 Cosmoprof Award winner for Home & Professional Devices & Tool products is Shenzhen Qianyu Technology Co., Ltd.; JOVS’ 4D Focus Mask.

Hair Products

This category includes products for hair care, scalp care, hair color, and hair styling.

This year’s finalists included:

Aloxxi International’s Luminexx By Aloxxi: this collection of permanent gel-creme hair color options, which are available in thirty-six shades, contain encapsulated pigments and are formulated with skin care ingredients like sugar beet extract to protect and nourish the scalp while providing long-lasting color results with effective grey coverage.

Fulton & Roark, LLC’s Lost Man Formula 5 Oil: this fragranced muti-use hair and beard oil is formulated with natural ingredients like lychee fruit extract and is designed to also be used as a shave oil and dry skin treatment.

NOV Natural Organic Vegan’s Hair Vinegar Tonic: this spray-on hair treatment is designed with the ‘skinification’ of hair care products in mind and is formulated with natural ingredients like nettle extract to reduce dandruff and repair split ends to restore the hair’s quality and appearance.

Wellness Premium Products’ Wellplex Color Mask: available in eight vibrant shades, this color-depositing hair treatment mask product collection is formulated with organic cold-pressed hemp seed oil and its color range can be mixed or diluted for the desired color effect.

This year’s 2023 Cosmoprof Award winner for Hair Products is NOV Natural Organic Vegan’s Hair Vinegar Tonic.

Category nominees & 2023 Cosmopack Award winners

Entries for the 2023 Cosmopack Awards were judged on criteria including innovation, marketability, sustainability, and execution. For the Packaging: Design & Materials category, additional criteria included innovative surface design, enhanced functionality, smart design, and innovative materials and solutions that help to improve all other criteria.

Here are the finalists and winners for the 2023 Cosmopack Awards:

Formulation

This category includes formulations for cosmetic products including make-up, skin & body care, hair, nails.

This year’s finalists included:

B.Kolor Makeup & Skin Care S.P.A. SB Benefit Corporation’s Uniformer Exfoliating Mousse Mask: this formulation’s hero ingredient, urea, is designed to be used on the body and faceto exfoliate skin and remove any leftover residue from self-tanning product application for an even skin tone.

Italcosmetici’s The Way (YOU) Make Up My Skin: available in both blue and purple formulations, these primers incorporate microencapsulated pigments designed to even the complexion and enhance the appearance of any skin type.

Itit Cosmetics’ Waterproof Clean Mascara: this cosmetic formulation is vegan, incorporates clean ingredients like natural wild apple seed oil, and is designed to be waterproof and long-lasting in any weather condition.

Solésence Beauty Science’s Natural Glow Face Oil SPF 40+: this serum formulation utilizes dual proprietary ingredients, including transparent zinc-oxide Kleair and antioxidant Bloom to provide an anti-aging blurring skin effect while simultaneously offering UVA and UVB sun protection to protect the skin.

This year’s 2023 Cosmopack Award winner for Formulation is Solésence Beauty Science’s Natural Glow Face Oil SPF 40+.

Packaging: Design & Materials

This category includes finished good product packaging for makeup, nails, skin care, hair, toiletries, personal care, and fragrances.

This year’s finalists included:

FusionPKG’s Airless-One Mono-Material Pump Engine Technology: the design of this airless pump engine technology affords beauty industry manufacturers the opportunity to offer consumers a 100% recyclable packaging option that maintains effective product performance and user experience.

Guangzhou Lisson Plastic Co., Ltd.’s Vibration Eye Cream Tube: utilizing a combination of the body’s currents and a microwave chip, this packaging option can enhance an eye cream’s efficacy by improving blood circulation product application area.

NF Beauty Group’s Ambit Tottle: suitable for both skin care and cosmetics products, the slim shape of this packaging’s unique design maximizes in-store product shelf space utilization and is a more efficient use of space in the consumer’s home storage space.

Taeyang Renew Inc.’s Airtight Slider Mascara: the unique structure of this packaging design keeps the product applicator separate from the product’s liquid contents to protect from hardening and ensure that the product maintains a consistent and fresh liquid quality over time.

This year’s 2023 Cosmopack Award winner for Packaging: Design & Materials is Guangzhou Lisson Plastic Co., Ltd.’s Vibration Eye Cream Tube.
