Leading luxury beauty brands have been recognised for packaging innovation efforts at the ADF&PCD 2020 trade show in Paris, with 3D printing and sustainability thrust into the spotlight.

Today’s ADF&PCD Innovation Awards, held at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, were judged by an independent jury led by packaging expert Alain Bethune and Hervé Bouix, senior VP of innovation packaging at Estee Lauder. Open for entry since June last year, the awards were split into eight different categories: premium skin care, premium make-up, mass make-up, fragrances for men, fragrances for women, limited edition boxes, sustainable development and onsite refillable devices.

Beauty packaging showed innovation, diversity and dedication

Eco-design proved to be a determining factor and a source of much innovation presented this year and refillable was also seen across luxury as a way of providing new services and perceived value.

Emma Appert, marketing leader for ADF&PCD and PLD Paris 2020, said the judging panel had been “hugely impressed” by the quality of submissions this year.

“All nominees should be proud, and we’d like to pass on our congratulations to all our award and certificate winners – it was a hard-fought contest this year (…) The innovation, diversity and dedication to causes like sustainability really are commendable,” Appert said.

Premium skin care and limited edition

The premium skin care award was given to Yves Saint Laurent for its refillable Serum Reboot bottles, enabling consumers to top up on the premium ‘Pure Shots’ product.
