Multifunction is becoming a necessity in the cosmetics industry, and whilst it is the norm in the women’s’ category, men’s skin care brand Bulldog has launched its new Protective Moisturiser with SPF15 for the male market.

Gearing up for the summer, although it is advisable to wear an SPF product all year round if possible, the new line will launch this month in the UK in national retailer Tesco.

The product has been specially formulated with natural ingredients to provide skin hydration and everyday skin protection.

It also marks a first for the men’s grooming brand as the new moisturiser also contains the added benefit of a broad spectrum SPF15 to help protect the skin all year round.

“Our new Protective Moisturiser is a very exciting addition to the Bulldog range, especially for those spending time outdoors for sport or leisure. This moisturiser should be the perfect choice for daily use,” says Bulldog founder Simon Duffy.

“A remarkable number of men have really embraced the amazing natural skin care benefits of our existing moisturisers and other products for years, and we are really excited to see how this product will perform in the weeks ahead.”

The new addition has been lightly fragranced with a blend of 9 essential oils including bergamot, vetivert and ginger.

It is also enriched with botanical ingredients aloe vera and green tea; both renowned for skin soothing and protective properties.

SPF moisturisers

Having a skin care product with secondary benefits, or multifunction, is a popular tool in both men’s and women’s categories, with a number of the big players offering products like these.

Moisturising has become a norm in men’s daily routine, particularly in younger men in the UK, as they look to take pride in their appearance and are concerned with dealing with the signs of ageing.

Sunscreen is not a product, particularly in Britain, that men say they apply on a daily basis, despite the known risk of skin cancer and UV-induced photo damage when exposed to the sun without protection.

A study by the Annals of Internal Medicine, states that using an SPF of some kind every day can slow the ageing process by 24%, and this has been an influence in producing some form of SPF into products that are used on a daily basis.
