The Cosmetics Compact is your compact source of the latest new headlines from the last few weeks, taking a glance at what has been happening in the cosmetics industry.

Whether in your lunch break, on your commute, or proudly displayed in your office, the compact is a great way to catch up on some the highlights of the last few weeks.

In this edition we throw light on the development of inorganic IR blockers that scientists believe will help protect against skin ageing.

There is also some regulation news after the European Commission announced it will be amending Annex III with further restrictions on hair colouring ingredients.

Sticking in the hair arena, there has also been what scientists are saying is a ‘critical’ new understanding of hair structure after discoveries were made about the hair cuticle and keratin levels.

One company that is less involved in hair care now having sold its Wella and Clairol brands is P&G, who has announced David S. Taylor as its new CEO.

This decision along with the brand divestment has led market researcher Euromonitor to suggest that P&G may be shifting its focus away from Beauty and onto Home Care, for the time being.

And finally, comes the news that the new Google Glass will feature the Techkon ColorCatcher technology, currently used in beauty apps, and this could have further benefits for the cosmetics industry.
