New hypochlorous ingredient provides gentle and effective cleansing
“Our unique formula will actively protect your skin from effects of the exposome which can cause aging, irritation or breakouts,” Chief Marketing Officer Maile Pacheco said. “Clinisoothe+ will also help your skin to rapidly recover from harsh exposure to pollutants and contamination caused by the environment that we live in.”
The formula provides effective cleansing while avoiding ingredients such as parabens and sulfates. To learn more about this new formula and hypochlorous acid in general, CosmeticsDesign-USA (CDU) spoke further with Pacheco.
CDU: What is the potential impact of Clinisoothe+’s launch?
Pacheco: Clinisoothe+ is one of the first-to-market beauty brands to introduce our proprietary high purity hypochlorous ingredient. With an unparalleled safety and efficacy profile, we are leading the industry in what we predict will be the next ingredient craze in clean skincare. Not all hypochlorous formulas are the same and we predict that other manufacturers of this ingredient will be forced to increase the purity and quality of their formulas as consumers demand transparency with formulations and ingredients.
CDU: Tell us more about the formulation and development process for Clinisoothe+.
Pacheco: Our scientists have put years of research and development as well as a unique laboratory process into developing Clinisoothe+. It provides gentle yet highly effective cleansing at a fraction of the toxicity of traditional cleansing chemistries. We undergo rigorous testing of our solution and perform a spectroscopy test for each batch, even against our competitors.
A spectroscopy test informs the chemical composition, efficacy, safety and potency of hypochlorous levels in each formula. The result is our highly stable, oil-free high purity hypochlorous solution, which cleanses and provides powerful protection, but is also gentle on the skin. It doesn’t harm, irritate or sensitize the dermal layer and can be used safely on the face or body.
CDU: Were there any challenges from development to launch?
Pacheco: Well, not all hypochlorous is the same. The discovery of the skin purifying technology that underpins Clinisoothe+ was first published in the British Medical Journal in 1915. Since then, researchers have been trying to perfect this natural yet highly effective and skin safe solution. Clinisoothe+ Skin Purifier is the first of its kind to use a unique scientific process to produce a stable, skin-safe product.
CDU: How did you incorporate sustainability into Clinisoothe+?
Pacheco: It is free from all alcohol, parabens, sulfates, preservatives, colorants and fragrance. It’s suitable for sensitive skin and dermatologically tested and the bottles are widely recyclable at a consumer level.
CDU: Are there any plans for further innovation or product development utilizing this tech?
Pacheco: Yes, we are experimenting and testing new ways to stabilize our high purity hypochlorous behind an aqueous formula. We are also testing the stabilization of our formula in more eco-friendly packaging.
